Questions about Counter Strike : Condition Zero

Okay...I'm at my wit's end here. I bought via Steam on Friday the CS:CZ package online. I have a Kensington Expert Mouse Optical 7.0 and the CHP Products Fighter Stick Pro, both USB models.

I had to quit the game soon after installing it, after finishing just 2 "missions/levels". When I fired it up again, it would act like a lock up, then restart me at the beginning of the map. I determined this to be when I pressed a particular button the joystick (right index button). I uninstalled/reinstalled CHP software. Didn't help.

I finally ended up deleting my player profile, and running it again. I got through that "restart map" no problem. I played 2 more maps then quit last night.

Today, same thing. I uninstalled the game/reinstalled, and checked the integrity of the local cache. Doens't help. Game still looks up...but now when I press the top red button.

Any thoughts on what is causing this?

Anybody got the config file setup so I can run my CH Products Fighterstick as a regular joystick in the game? I'm using the CHP management software...maybe that's the problem with this game? (works fine in CSS though)....but it's worth a shot.

I just forget how to run a joystick regularly in a CS game. I know there were some settings one had to put in a userconfig file.

Must have been something in the config.cfg file. I deleted the one the game creates and had it just load my userconfig.cfg file...and it seems to be mostly working. I still think there's a glitch somewhere....who knows for sure. I guess time will tell....

I have never ever heard of something like that happening ? I know CS:CZ has some weirdness at times but that is nothing but Bazaar !

The wiki is not more, but I'm using the waybackmachine to rescue stuff from it, should work for you too !
